New RSS News section

Sunday, February 18th, 2007

OK. It’s maybe not the update you are most interested in but I added a small news section. It feeds off other Bangkok sites so you kind of get more news in one place now. Bangkokrecorder is quite good on finding up-to-date info on clubbing, nightlife (the family friendly type), art, fashion and a lot of other things. The Nation is my favorite English language newspaper here. If you know of any other good Bangkok related websites that uses RSS, please let me know and I consider adding it, too.

New Email RSS Updates

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Just letting you know that I changed my newsletter delivery system to something nicer looking. That means that all that have signed up for updates via Email will receive a mail tomorrow which might also include some older posts. This will only happen the first time and afterwards you will only receive an Email when I updated something on the website. Of course, you can unsubscribe at anytime again.

Internet in Bangkok starting to get better again

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Just wanna say sorry for the lack of updates in the past 2 weeks or so but as most of you have heard by now, a destroyed underwater cable in Taiwan has caused the Internet in Thailand to slow down so much that it was (and still is) nearly impossible to do anything online. Now they finally started repairing this underwater line and the connection is starting to get better. So Ill try to catch up a bit now. Thanks for your understanding.

Stop Thai Coyote Dancers in Bangkok

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

Recently, a new law was proposed to stop young girls from taking jobs as Coyote dancers. For the ones who don’t know, a few years back, these type of clubs got really popular. I started noticing this when a club called Forte opened on Sukhumvit Road Bangkok. It was a hit back then. You go with your buddies, get a bottle of whiskey (basically, that is the only thing you can order there) and you have a lot of absolutely hot hostesses walking around. If you like one just call her over and she will give you company. You gotta buy her a drink once in a while but that’s it. The dance shows in these places are wicked as the coyote girls really know what they are doing. It is a pleasure to watch. This is no go go bar though. You should dress up to go there and there are no naked women or anything like that. Forte is still alive but now it is located on one end of RCA road (Royal City Avenue). This is a big street full of clubs for students and young Thais. It is also frequented highly by foreigners.

The new law suggests that the salarys in these clubs are attractive but they make young girls (18, 19, 20, etc.) stay up too late every day and “work” too much. Another official reason is that foreigners shouldn’t get the wrong impression about Thai girls.
I don’t know what you are thinking about Bangkok Coyote dancers but I surely don’t want to miss THIS:

and THIS:

This is about what you can expect at clubs like Forte. There is another one called Soprano on Sukhumvit Road Soi 26. It was called Orbit before which was really good but I heard it turned more into a lounge now with not so much dancing anymore. Any comments on Soprano are welcome. The Pent Club is probably my favorite of these clubs.

Thailand Coup: Should you come to Bangkok?

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Thailand Coup Tank

A lot of our friends living abroad seem to be a bit scared about coming to Thailand and especially Bangkok at the moment because of the coup that happened here. Rest assured that it is really not as bad as the press might make you believe. There has been no violence anywhere and not even demonstrations that we heard of. The streets are back to normal and nightlife has not been affected. In fact, some places seem to be able to open longer again than the 2AM curfew time. So if you had planned a trip to Bangkok, don’t change your travel plans yet as it is not necessary right now. If things change, we will report again.
